Raydium Burn and Earn vs Locking LP: Which Should Your Project Use? (2026)

Raydium Burn and Earn permanently burns your LP position while you keep claiming trading fees. Locking keeps the position recoverable on a set date. How the two differ, what each costs you, and when to use which.

Burn and Earn vs Locking, in One Paragraph

Raydium Burn and Earn permanently burns your LP position so the liquidity can never be withdrawn, while the right to claim the pool's trading fees stays with you. Locking places the LP tokens in an on-chain vault until a date you choose, after which they return to you.

Burn and Earn is permanent and Raydium only. Locking is time bound and works across the DEXs your liquidity may move between. The decision is not about which is safer for holders, because both prevent a liquidity pull. It is about whether you will ever need that position back.

What Burn and Earn Actually Does

Burning an LP position normally means giving up two things: the liquidity and the fee income it generates. Burn and Earn separates those. The position is destroyed so nobody can redeem the underlying liquidity, and the fee claim right is retained by the creator.

That is a genuinely good design for the right project. It removes the rug vector completely while keeping the pool economically useful to the team that seeded it.

It also removes every option that follows.

The Case for Burn and Earn

Use it when all of the following are true.

  • Your liquidity lives on Raydium and you have no plan to move it
  • The pool type and fee configuration are already right
  • You want permanence rather than a duration you have to justify
  • You have no roadmap item that needs the position back

For a fixed supply community token with a single Raydium pool and no treasury operations, permanence costs you nothing you would ever have used. Take it.

The Case for Locking Instead

Use a lock when any of the following are true.

Your liquidity may not stay on Raydium. Meteora, Orca and PumpSwap all hold meaningful Solana volume in 2026. A burned Raydium position stays on Raydium forever, including through a migration that leaves it stranded.

You run more than one pool. Fragmented liquidity across several pools is common after a launchpad graduation. Burning locks that fragmentation in permanently. Locking leaves consolidation available.

Your token uses Token-2022 extensions. Transfer taxes and other extensions sometimes force pool configuration changes as the token matures. Permanence is a bad fit for a setup that may need adjusting.

LP farming is on your roadmap. LP positions can be staked into farms to reward liquidity providers with your token or a partner token. A burned position cannot be staked. If incentivised liquidity is anywhere in your plans, burn only what you can afford to remove from them.

You want the commitment to be renewable. A long lock that you visibly renew is a repeated signal. A burn is a single event that stops generating trust the week after it happens.

The Structure Most Projects Should Actually Use

Split the position. Burn the founding liquidity through Burn and Earn if it sits on Raydium and it is never coming back, then lock every later addition.

The burned portion establishes a permanent floor that cannot be pulled under any circumstance. The locked portion keeps a working share available for migration, consolidation or farming, on a public unlock date that anyone can check.

Holders see both. The combination reads as a team that thought about it, which is a different signal from a team that picked the option with the loudest headline.

What Holders See in Each Case

Burned liquidity is verified from the burn transaction and the LP supply on Solana Explorer. It is unambiguous but it is also silent. There is no page, no schedule and no ongoing artefact.

Locked liquidity is verified from a public lock record showing the amount, the vault and the unlock date, searchable at stakepoint.app/locks by token address or wallet address with no login required, and confirmable on Solana Explorer.

Publish whichever proof you create. A commitment nobody can find does no work.

Locking LP Tokens on StakePoint

StakePoint supports LP locking across Raydium AMM v4 and CPMM, Meteora DAMM v1 and v2, Orca and PumpSwap, which is the broadest DEX coverage available on Solana in 2026. Token-2022 LP tokens, including those with transfer taxes, are handled natively.

Every lock is held in a Program Derived Address vault with no admin keys and no cancel instruction. Nothing releases before the unlock date.

1

Go to stakepoint.app/locks and connect the wallet holding your LP tokens

2

Select your LP token

3

Enter the amount and choose the unlock date

4

If you want the permanent route for a portion instead, StakePoint also has a free on-chain token burn tool for SPL and Token-2022 tokens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Raydium Burn and Earn?

It permanently burns an LP position so the liquidity can never be withdrawn, while the creator retains the right to claim trading fees generated by the pool.

Is Burn and Earn better than locking LP?

Neither is better in general. Burn and Earn is stronger where permanence is genuinely intended and the liquidity will stay on Raydium. Locking is stronger where the project may need to migrate, consolidate, adjust the pool, or farm the position later.

Can I use Burn and Earn on Meteora, Orca or PumpSwap?

No. It is a Raydium feature. Liquidity on other Solana DEXs needs a locker that supports those pool types.

Can I reverse Burn and Earn?

No. The position is destroyed permanently. Only the fee claim right remains.

Can I burn part of my liquidity and lock the rest?

Yes, and this is the structure most projects benefit from. Burn the founding position for a permanent floor and lock later additions on a public unlock date.

Do locked LP tokens still earn trading fees?

Fees continue to accrue to the position. The difference is that the position itself is held in a vault and cannot be withdrawn until the unlock date.
